7 Layer Bean Dip

It’s football season and one of the most important parts of the season for me is the FOOD!! The game is fun and everything, but I have a hard time sticking it out through the whole game, but I really want to hang out with my husband and boys while they are watching. I definitely enjoy the gathering and social part of football a lot more than the actual game. The secret to keeping us all hanging out together a little longer for us is to incorporate delicious food. Food is the perfect way to gather, create memories, build traditions and connect people. This 7 Layer Bean Dip is one of our favorite game day foods to get you started!

Our family absolutely loves this 7 Layer Bean Dip. It’s easy to whip up and great to serve for the Super Bowl and other parties. Whenever I eat this dip, I am brought back to my childhood. We would have this for dinner, as an afternoon snack, or in our lunches on school days.

7 Layer Bean Dip

Ingredients:

1 (32 oz) can of Old El Paso refried beans (I sometimes make my own)

1 (8oz) can of tomato sauce or red salsa (depending how spicy your group is)

few dashes of garlic powder

couple dashes of italian seasonings

1 cup guacamole

1 cup sour cream

1 cup colby jack cheese, shredded

2 tomatoes, diced

2 green onions, chopped

sliced olives (optional)

bag of tortilla chips

fresh cut veggies

Directions:

Grab a large microwave safe bowl or glass plan and spread beans in the bottom. Next in a small bowl, stir together tomato sauce, garlic powder and italian seasonings. Pour over beans and spread to cover. Warm up in the microwave for 3 minutes or until warmed through. Your next layer is the guacamole, followed by the diced tomatoes. Sour cream is next, spread evenly across the top. Put the cheese on and then the green onions. You can also add olives, if desired.

Serve with fresh veggies and tortilla chips.

If you’re making this ahead, you can skip the warming step and just serve it cold. It’s delicious either way.
