Morning Routine

Let me start out by telling you that I am not a morning person. I’m not really a night owl. I love my sleep and am not the nicest person when I am half way asleep and awake. My mornings with the kids trying to be out the door by 7:30am for school was always a huge struggle with me being sleep deprived (there’s always some little one up in the night or I’ve been up late with a teenager). I was sharper with them, and not nearly as with it as I should’ve been. I didn’t think I could ever been the type of person to get up before the 6am hour, but as I’ve given it a chance, it has completely changed my life. These are my daily musts.

Morning Devotional

This is key for my mind to be clear for the day, and to get my priorities straight. I get up at 5am, wash my face and get dressed into my gym clothes. I spend about 30 minutes praying, pondering, journaling and reading my scriptures. I make my list of daily to do’s and do my best to listen to for inspiration of what might need to be added in. I absolutely love this video and try to live by it. These moments are so special and sacred. I feel the Lord is with me, directing my life when I take a few minutes every day to be with him.

Workout

When I am done with my scripture study, and about the same time my kids leave for early morning seminary before school, I head over to the gym. In a perfect world, I would love to work out for 45-60 minutes. But even if I get 30 minutes on the elliptical or a little time lifting weights, it’s makes such a huge difference for me. It helps me burn stress and gets my body moving for the day. I also notice that the days that I go to the gym, I usually eat much healthier as well. This is also great because it helps me drink a lot of water at the beginning of the day. Often I get really busy as the day goes on and forget to hydrate.

Healthy Breakfast

I’m pretty predictable with my breakfast in the morning. Almost every single day I have either a Chocolate PB Banana Shake (featured in our free newsletter- subscribe on our homepage for great bonus material) or a bowl of oatmeal. I also usually have an egg. The main reason for this is just that everything seems to digest better for me throughout the day when I eat like this. Pretty boring, I know!! I do have lots of different oatmeal recipes that mix it up. These are some of my favorites:

Mango Coconut Oatmeal

Blackberry Lemon Steel Cut Oats -in the Pressure Cooker

Chocolate Chip PB2 Oatmeal

Apple-Banana Oatmeal with Pecans

I hope these tips are helpful for you. They have changed my life!!
