We got to the waterpark as early as we could so we could enjoy the complimentary breakfast. There are lots of different locker areas that are designated by color. We rented a locker for our personal belongings. They had wet bags we could use on the river float for our cell phones and other items. Life jackets are available all through out the park at no cost.

We started our fun with the river float. We made our way to the tram that drives you up to the top of the river. We floated down the river (so fun and not at all like the lazy river you see at a man made waterpark), and stopped to do cliff jumping, ropes course, and zipline on our way down.

After that we ate some lunch and grabbed the snorkels. The mouth piece is yours to keep, but don’t lost the goggles! That is the expensive part to replace. It was so fun swimming in the inlet that met up with the Caribbean Sea. There are lots of fish to see and a huge area to snorkel in.

From there we crossed the wiggly bridge and went over to the area with the cenotes and grotto (my FAVORITE!!). They are truly one of a kind. The video above gives you a great picture of what you can expect in the grotto.

As you are going place to place you are walking (or biking) through paths in the jungle. There is wildlife running around and it is amazing!!!

The older kids and my husband went to hit the waterslide while I took the little ones to the children’s play area. The children’s area is huge! There is so much to do. They could have spent hours and hours there along.

Here is a break down of what parts of the park were the favorite spots depending on age

Everyone in our family seemed to have a different part of Xel Ha that they liked the best. Let’s start with the youngest:

  • For our little kids ages 4-6 the favorite part was the children’s area with an obstacle course, and the wiggly bridge

  • For our elementary school age kids, they loved the zip lines and ropes course

  • For our teenagers, their highlights were snorkeling, chasing crabs, zipline and cliff jumping

  • Me and my husband loved the cenotes, grotto, river float, cliff jumping, zip line and the rope swing

The waterslide was a bit anti-climatic, but the older kids and my husband don’t ever pass up a waterslide!
