Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Best Cruise Excursion: Los Veranos Zipline Canopy Tour

You could book different excursions through our cruise boat company, but we opted to use a 3rd party. They were extremely professional, fun and made sure we made it back to our ship with plenty of time.

How we got there:

It was about a 10 minute walk from the cruise boat to the Los Veranos Main Office. To get to the excursion, they can take you from the office by speed boat or by jungle truck to the adventure. We took the boat!! From the office, it was a short walk to the speed boat dock.

There is a grocery store that shares a parking lot with the Los Veranos Main Office. It's a great stop if you need some snacks, drinks or sunscreen for the day. Our kids loved seeing the different Mexican products.

We had the best guide on our speed boat ride to the canopy tour. The boat ride may have been my favorite part of the whole day! On the way there, they took us on a beautiful scenic route. Puerto Vallarta is so beautiful!

The speed boat drops you in a charming little cove. Once you get off the boat, you walk a block or two to the jungle truck that brings you up the mountain. The views are amazing!

What to expect once you are onsite:

When you arrive on site, there is a restroom and there are lockers for your belongings. They highly encourage you to put everything in the lockers, even cell phones. A couple people in our group kept theirs plus a GoPro so we could get this footage for you!!

The zipline guides and instructors had so much personality and energy. They were funny and moved super fast through the whole experience. Once you get your gear on, they give a tutorial on how to stay safe, and how to slow down on your zips.

There are 19 ziplines! The largest one is 2132 ft long and 800 ft high! We were thrilled that our adventurous 6 year old was big enough to do the tour with us. Guides go with each person at least once to take videos of you having the experience that you can purchase at the end. See a map of the different zips here!

Expect some decent stair climbing. It’s a workout! About your footwear! You need to wear closed toe shoes. Most of our group wore tennis shoes, but I wore my crocs in sport mode and was just fine.

There are times when they may change up the order of who is going so the little ones are spaced between larger people to keep everyone flowing on the ziplines. Often you are coming in quick with others right after you, so you need to hop out of the way fast!

There are water stations at each zip so you can stay hydrated as you are moving through the course. The guides move through with you and help every step of the way. Everyone in our group who wanted to go upside down had the opportunity.

The views are incredible!!! If you have a GoPro, you can get some really fun footage on the zips!! Big thanks to my bro in law for getting us some clips for our YouTube video with his GoPro!!

Other things to do besides ziplines:

When you are done on the ziplines, your ticket also includes a visit to the animal sanctuary. They have birds: macaws & toucans. The monkeys were our favorites! It was so fun to feed and handle them. They’re so cute!!

If we had more time, we would have loved to play in the river! It looked so fun and we were super hot and sweaty (it was August) after our ziplining.

They have a restaurant on site that over looks the river. The prices seemed a little high to us until we realized how large the portions were. We shared meals and still ended up with food leftover. Everything was super delicious. We especially loved the fajitas!

Heading back to our cruise boat:

After dinner, it was time to head back on the jungle truck to catch our speed boat. They had this great little photo op right by the place where we loaded up.

We loved walking through the little village of Los Veranos down to the docks where we met our speed boat. I would love to spend more time there.

The speed boat ride back to our starting point was much quicker and more direct than on the way there. It was sad to say goodbye to Los Veranos and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! We made such amazing memories with our family.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone heading to that area. It was very well done with the best possible service.
