Do you ever feel like your emotions are running you? Whether it’s anger, sadness, or disappointment? There are times in my life when I’ve had a tendency to hold my emotions in or push them away just to explode into tears later. Or maybe I find myself yelling at my kids when they have had nothing to do what I’m upset about. This is one reason I loved having today’s guest on with us today.

Lisa Lewis @mamasinmidlife is on teaching us how to handle these big emotions and figure out how to feel more of our happy emotions. She also gives us some tips to help with basic mental health.

Basics for Improving our Mental Health:

Go through this little list with yourself. How are you doing in these areas?

  1. Eating Properly - is your body getting proper nourishment?

  2. Getting enough sleep

  3. Exercise- even a short walk around the block makes a difference

  4. Drinking water - our bodies are made up of mostly water, this can play a big role!

  5. Caffeine consumption- are you consuming too much or may just too late in the day?

  6. Medications- are you taking your meds? Are the side effects impacting your mental health?

Steps for better managing our emotions:

  1. Name the emotion being experienced - what are you feeling?

  2. Allow for the emotion

  3. Get out of your head and into your body- let your body feel the emotion
